Max Adventure
Nine websites. One system. Zero headaches.
The Brief
Max Adventure runs some of Australia’s most-loved trail and adventure races, from the Convict 100 to the Great Adventure Challenge, with events running across New South Wales and Queensland. Each race has its own name, its own branding, and its own die-hard following, and one event, the Max Adventure Race, runs across five different locations under a single brand. Behind the scenes, though, one small (and very passionate) team was managing it all.
Max Adventure needed a website solution that could keep every event’s individual identity intact, while making the day-to-day management radically simpler. Not one website – a system of websites, built to scale as new events are added, without multiplying the workload every time a date, distance, or detail changes.
On top of that, with athletes travelling from all over the country (and some events needing to fill spots after injuries or last-minute changes), visibility in Google search couldn’t be an afterthought. It had to be built in from day one.

Our Client
Max Adventure is the team behind a growing portfolio of eight trail running and adventure event brands across Australia, including the Jabulani Challenge, Convict 100, Great Adventure Challenge, Rafferty’s Coastal Run, Coastal Classic, Three Bridges Run, Bouddi Coastal Run, and the Max Adventure Race – which itself runs across five locations, from Sydney to the Sunshine Coast. With a hands-on internal team and a genuinely passionate community of athletes, Max Adventure needed a digital partner who could match their pace, not slow it down.

Our Approach
One system, nine brands, endless flexibility
Every Max Adventure event has its own personality – different logos, different colours and a different visual flair. Rather than build eight unrelated websites from scratch, we designed one flexible, repeatable framework in WordPress and Divi that adapts to each event’s unique branding while keeping the underlying structure consistent.
It’s flexible enough to handle a single-location event just as easily as the Max Adventure Race, which runs the same race across five different locations from Sydney to the Sunshine Coast.
The result: every site feels distinct to athletes, while being dramatically faster (and more cost effective) for Max Adventure to roll out each time a new event, or a new location, joins the lineup.
Update once, publish everywhere
Race dates, key details, and recurring information used to mean updating the same content across multiple pages, on multiple sites, every single time something changed.
Our development team built a system where key pieces of information (like an event date) only need to be updated in one place, and that change automatically flows through to every page where it appears. Less admin, fewer mistakes, more time spent on the events themselves.
Search engine optimisation (SEO), built in from the start
As a Noosa web design company, search visibility is at the core of every project we deliver, not something bolted on afterwards.
Because Max Adventure relies on a steady stream of new athletes finding and registering for each event, we approached this project with the same focus we bring to our Noosa SEO services: structuring content, pages, and internal linking across the whole network of sites to help each event rank for the terms athletes are actually searching for.
Navigation athletes can actually use
Every event comes with a mountain of detail: distances, rules, schedules, locations, and logistics that shift from race to race. We designed the site architecture and navigation specifically to help athletes self-serve this information quickly and intuitively, cutting down significantly on the calls and emails Max Adventure’s small team would otherwise need to field.
News that finds the right audience automatically
With a shared parent site and individual event sites, keeping everyone informed used to be a manual, repetitive job. We set up automated news distribution, so a story about a specific event is automatically published on both the Max Adventure website and that event’s own website – no double handling required.
Fast website hosting, built for a growing network
Running one website is one thing. Running a connected network of nine requires a hosting infrastructure that just works.
We set Max Adventure up with fast website hosting built to comfortably handle traffic spikes around registration deadlines and event weekends, so the sites stay quick and reliable exactly when it matters most.
Photography that does the heavy lifting
Max Adventure’s events happen in genuinely stunning locations throughout Australia, and they have the photography to prove it. We designed each site to let that photography lead – bold, image-first layouts that let the scenery and the energy of race day sell the event, with minimal need for us to over-design on top of it.

FAQs
How do you keep branding consistent across so many completely different event identities without it looking like a template?
The trick is separating what changes from what doesn’t. Every Max Adventure event has its own logo, colours, and visual style – some with swirling backgrounds, others with bold splotches of colour – but the underlying page layout, navigation logic, and content structure stay the same across all nine sites. Visitors never see the “template” underneath because the branding layer does all the visual work. What they experience is a site that feels custom-designed for that specific event.
Could this same multi-brand system work for a business with multiple locations or franchises?
Yes – this is exactly the kind of project this system is built for. Whether it’s multiple event brands, multiple business locations, or a franchise network where each location needs its own local identity, the same principle applies: one flexible framework that adapts to each brand or location, without needing to build (or maintain) each site from scratch.
How did you stop the navigation becoming overwhelming with so much event-specific detail to cover?
Why build this as multiple websites instead of one big site covering every event?
Each event has its own community, its own branding, and its own search presence to build in Google. Splitting them into individual sites – connected through one central hub – lets each event build its own authority and rank for its own specific keywords, while still being effortless for Max Adventure to manage centrally.
Is this built on a pre-made WordPress template?
No, we don’t use WordPress templates. While every site in the network shares the same underlying framework for consistency and ease of management, each one was custom-designed from scratch to reflect that event’s individual branding. Nothing here comes from an off-the-shelf theme – the shared structure is something we engineered specifically for Max Adventure’s needs, not a template we dropped their logo into.
